Atlas of a terra incognita. Reveailng reliving Bagnoli

The project concerns the redevelopment of the derelict and polluted area of Bagnoli (Naples). My ab-use of graphics is consciously desired. Using a font that invokes a type of writing and printing of the past, with tales of medieval tales and legends. My intent is to create a sort of Historical Atlas, because the area has a strong appeal to its origin, to its past, which is why my project/non-project aims not to delete or destroy any "scar", "blur" of the place (Industrial architecture. Foundations of old felled volumes that have left deep footprints on the ground, the excavation and construction occurred during the various interventions and thus all pollutants). The theme of Abandonment and Degradation is no longer a Limit but became the Soul of the place, to be Reliving | Revealing. An abandonment that turns into a Monument, sculpture and in which nature, contaminated by polluted soil, proliferates and shows itselt by altered and distorted forms, going to be mixed with everything built and so creating a final image, a Micro-Cosm in which, even in the Heterogeneous, all can coexist. A place where the power Nature, represented with surreal and utopian colors and scales is mingles with various elements actually built. It is an heterogeneous, which in all its contradictions, creates a final framework that I represented with a lbig final Manifestos. As a sort of painting of this Terra Incognita which refers to the Bosch’s work; a place that blends between imagination and reality, an (E) U TOPIA; EU = GOOD and TOPOS = PLACE. The vegetation, the scenery is left free to his fate. Shrubs and weeds proliferate and contaminate their surrounding. In my research I’m showing also how some plants are using pollution not only to survive but also to create new species. Finally I’m representing through collages, with an imaginary and azard background, how can become this place that is being for years considered as a disgrace, as an "enemy" to be deleted from Memory, a memory that as Aldo Rossi said "becomes a sort of theatre in which everything is grouped and connected ... Past and Present ".

Il progetto riguarda la riqualificazione paesaggistica dell’area abbandonata ed inquinata di Bagnoli (Napoli). Il mio ab-uso di grafica è consciamente voluto. Dall’uso di un font che richiama un tipo di scrittura e stampa del passato, con racconti di storie e leggende medievali. Il mio intento è infatti quello di creare una sorta di Atlante storico, poiché l’area di intervento ha per me un forte richiamo alla sua origine, al suo passato, motivo per cui il mio progetto/non-progetto mira a non eliminare o celare alcuna “cicatrice”, “macchia” del territorio ( le sue architetture industriali. le fondamenta di vecchi volumi abbattuti che hanno lasciato profonde orme sul suolo, i segni di scavi e lavori avvenuti nel corso dei vari interventi di bonifica e così tutti gli elementi inquinanti). Il tema dell’Abbandono e del Degrado non rappresenta più un Limite bensì ne diviene l’Anima del luogo, da far Rivivere|Rivelare. Un abbandono che si trasforma in Monumento, in scultura e in cui la natura, contaminata dal suolo inquinato, prolifera e si manifesta sotto forme alterate e distorte, andandosi ad amalgamare con tutto il costruito e creando così un immagine finale, un Microcosmo in cui, anche nell’Eterogeneo, tutto può coesistere. Un luogo in cui la forza di questa natura, rappresentata con colori e scale anche surreali e utopiche si confonde con i vari elementi realmente presenti. E’ un eterogeneo, che in tutte le sue contraddizioni, crea un quadro finale che ho rappresentato con un grande manifesto Pittorico. Una sorta di dipinto di questa Terra Incognita la quale si richiama all’opera di Bosch; un luogo che si armonizza tra immaginazione e realtà, un (E)U TOPIA; EU=BELLO e TOPOS=LUOGO. La vegetazione, il paesaggio è lasciato così libero al suo destino. Arbusti ed erbacce proliferano e contaminano ciò che li circonda. Nella mia ricerca dimostro inoltre come alcune piante sfruttino l’inquinamento non solo per sopravvivere ma anche per dar vita a nuove specie. Infine rappresento attraverso dei fotomontaggi, caratterizzati da uno sfondo per l’appunto Azzardato e Immaginario, come possa essere questo luogo da anni ritenuto un vergogna, un “nemico” da cancellare nella Memoria, una memoria che come sostiene Aldo Rossi “diventa una sorte di teatro in cui tutto è raggruppato e connesso…Passato e Presente”.
