The wavy library. Porto city library design

Porto is a city full of history. The chosen site is close to the historical city center which is located on a very steep area. Thus how to deal the project with the city and topography is one of the main topics. The function of the project is a city library which satisfies the need of the site according to the analyse of the surroundings. The idea is to design new libraries and redesign the existed ramps to make connection between the top and bottom of the cliff -- city centre and sidewalk near the river. The disorganised area between the site and city center is designed as a square serving both for public and library. Meanwhile the low quality of the dwellings nearby are renovated which make the whole project's integrity.

Porto è una città piena di storia. Il sito scelto è vicino al centro storico della città che si trova su un tratto molto ripido area. Così come affrontare il progetto con la città e con la topografia è uno degli argomenti principali. La funzione del progetto è una biblioteca della città che soddisfi le necessità del sito in base alle analisi dei dintorni. L idea è quella di progettare nuove librerie e ridisegnare le rampe esisteva per effettuare il collegamento tra la parte superiore e inferiore della scogliera -- il centro città e il marciapiede vicino al fiume. La zona non ordinato tra il sito e il centro della città è stato progettato come un quadrato che serve sia per pubblici e di libreria. Nel frattempo la bassa qualità delle abitazioni nelle vicinanze sono state rinnovate che rendono tutto il progetto di integrità.
