Creative tank district. Requalifying through work

Today the world of work is rapidly changing. Transformations are induced by the invention of new tools as well as by fundamental changes in lifestyle, produced by the relationship between work, new intelligences and workplaces. A new Industrial Revolution is happening and is led by the creative class, influenced by the concept of know-how, that seems a metaphor of the revenge of the real on the virtual. This class takes advantage from dynamics as open source and crowdfunding, creating a competitive system. The consequences are the formation of hyper-specialized areas and workshops of production, where is possible to rediscover the value of craftsmanship and self-production. These experimentations are not only an answer to the crisis but also an added value of quality, demonstrated in all the phases of making, from the research to the education one. The goal of these spaces is being local rooted and global connected, from a familiar atmosphere to an open-ended condition, establishing connection and building realities of mutual collaboration where creative minds grow. The project interprets this social and economic phenomena looking for an architectural answer. The proposal deals with the theme of the reusing of a dismissed industrial area, supporting the thesis that making urbanity through work is possible. Beside that, the adaptive-reuse project aims to maintain the identity of the place although it improves the spaces quality and creates a new centrality, re-activating the peripheral neighbourhood of Milan. The design intervenes on the site with an inclusive approach to facilitate the creation of a trans-scalar community based on sharing, but also the possibility to find an individual dimension, tailored on personal needs. Furthermore, the project is sustainable-oriented and looks for a synergy with the context, with an innovative and experimental spirit. “Tank Creative District” is a new input for the City, an aggregator of new intelligences and a creativity generator through an attitude towards the theme of how to approach pre-existences. It aims to be an innovative space offering experimental and competitive solutions.

Il mondo del lavoro sta rapidamente cambiando. Questa trasformazione è causata dall’introduzione di nuovi strumenti, ma anche da un mutamento nello stile di vita dovuto all’emergere di nuovi mestieri e con essi di nuovi attori. Stiamo assistendo ad una “nuova rivoluzione industriale” guidata dalla classe creativa e influenzata dal concetto del saper fare, una sorta di ritorno dal virtuale al reale che approfitta di dinamiche come l’open source e crowdfunding per creare un sistema competitivo. Le conseguenze di questo fenomeno è la creazione di aree iper-specializzate, laboratori di produzione, dove riscoprire il valore dell’artigianato e dell’autoproduzione. Questo desiderio di sperimentazione non è solo una risposta alla crisi, ma anche valore aggiunto che apporta qualità a tutte le fasi della produzione, dalla ricerca alla condivisione. L’obiettivo di questi spazi è essere radicati ad una scala locale e connessi a scala globale, passando da un’atmosfera familiare ad una realtà di collaborazione dove le menti creative possono crescere senza confini. Il progetto interpreta questo fenomeno sociale ed economico cercando una risposta architettonica. La proposta tratta il tema del riuso industriale, avanzando la tesi di una riqualifica del territorio attraverso il lavoro, creando una nuova urbanità. Riattivando il tessuto urbano, il progetto punta a mantenere l’identità del luogo, ma allo stesso tempo migliorare la qualità dello spazio creando una nuova centralità. Il programma presenta un approccio inclusivo che genera una comunità trans-scalare basata sulla condivisione, ma anche sulla possibilità di trovare una dimensione individuale che soddisfi bisogni personali. Il progetto ha un’anima innovativa e sperimentale e propone soluzioni di efficienza energetica sostenibile in sinergia con il contesto. “Tank Creative District” si pone come una nuova dinamica nella città, incubatore di idee, aggregatore di nuove intelligenze e generatore di creatività, trattando il tema del riuso industriale: mira ad essere uno spazio innovativo presentando soluzioni sperimentali e competitive.
