Three. Una scuola per tutti

We have started from the real need of the Municipality of Casatenovo to plan the new middle school “M.G. Agnesi” building and to create “Three – A School for everybody”. Since the beginning, our target has been to center in a single building various public functions. We believe that the core topic of the retraining of our towns is to plan and implement cultural sites as spaces for the all the community. We have based on the preparatory studies of the local context and on the Italian and European new school standards and we have defined a needful space not only for the Casatenovo community but also for the neighboring communities. The school has been reviewed not only as a training site but also as a social and community location, that letted us to develop the topic of multifunctionality. The spaces are planned to act both in a mutual and in an independent way and they will be used not only by the school population to which the contest is delivered but also by the rest of the citizens. Considering the natural environment of the Rogoredo plain, wood has been used as the main material for the design of the building. The cozy aspect of the building has been obtained by the structures and by the outer covering remarking the diversity of the indoor well distinct spaces in composition of shapes. To ensure the environmental sustainability and the indoor comfort, in addition to the energy-giving certification required by the standards, the protocol “LEED for Schools” has been respected as support tool for the design strategies. Complying with the fixed targets of the American protocol, we have been able to develop some topics in addition to the features of production and energy consumption and we have had the possibility to project an innovative school also from this point of view.

È partendo da un’esigenza reale del Comune di Casatenovo, quale la progettazione per il nuovo edificio scolastico della scuola secondaria di primo grado “M. G. Agnesi”, che nasce ”Three – una Scuola per tutti”. Il nostro obbiettivo è stato fin da subito quello di concentrare in un unico edificio diverse funzioni pubbliche. Secondo noi, pianificare e realizzare luoghi per la cultura intesi come spazi per la comunità, deve essere un tema posto al centro della riqualifica delle nostre città. Sulla base degli studi preliminari del contesto urbano e dei nuovi modelli scolastici Europei ed Italiani abbiamo potuto definire uno spazio necessario non solo alla comunità di Casatenovo, ma anche ai comuni limitrofi. Ripensare dunque la scuola non solo come luogo di formazione ma come integratore sociale e comunitario, ci ha permesso di sviluppare il tema della multifunzionalità. Rivolgendosi non solo alla popolazione scolastica per cui viene indetto il Bando di gara del Comune, ma a tutta la cittadinanza, gli spazi sono progettati per funzionare oltre che sinergicamente anche in modo tra loro autonomo. La posizione nel contesto naturale della piana di Rogoredo ci ha stimolato a scegliere il legno come materiale primo per la progettazione dell’edificio. Strutture e rivestimenti sono pensati per conferire all’edificio un carattere accogliente e la composizione delle forme ben definita rimarca la differenziazione dello spazio interno. In termini di sostenibilità ambientale e comfort interno, oltre alla certificazione energetica richiesta da normativa, si è scelto di seguire il protocollo “LEED for Schools” come strumento di supporto alle strategie di progettazione. Attraverso il rispetto dei vari obbiettivi prefissati dal protocollo americano, abbiamo potuto sviluppare dei temi che vanno oltre gli aspetti di produzione e consumo di energia, consentendoci di progettare nel complesso una scuola innovativa anche sotto questo punto di vista.
