This thesis is framed within the LeNSin project (international Learning Network of networks on Sustainability - EU funded, Erasmus + programme, 2015-2018) aimed at promoting a new generation of designers (and design educators and researchers) capable of Design for Sustainability (DfS) focused on Sustainable Product-Service System (S.PSS) applied to Distributed Economies (DE), i.e. Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE), Distributed production of Products (DP), Distributed production of Software (DS), Distributed production of Information & Knowledge (DI&K) and Distributed Design (DD). The purpose of the thesis is to design a Sustainability Design-Orienting Scenario (SDOS) to open new visions on Sustainable Distributed Economies for all, as resource of inspiration for Sustainable Product-Service System (S.PSS) designers. The thesis adopts the Method for System Design for Sustainability (MSDS). The research and design path start with a Strategic Analysis (SA) through a best practice analysis of S.PSS applied to DE. Then (Exploring Opportunity phase) a series of S.PSS applied to DE ideas are generated. Finally, SDOS is designed, as a polarity diagram composed of four visions presenting sustainable win-win idea clusters and best practices of S.PSS applied to DE.
