In this day and age, getting information and entertainment have being proceeded, with the great effect of social media, through the visual communication. The first main reason of the rise of visual communication is the timelessness and the second one is the decrease in concentration skills which bring us to impatience. Unfortunately, impatience triggers other negative feelings and experiences. I hold the lack of empathy as one of the most important losses. This thesis explores a sustainable service design which has a mission of combining storytelling with the power of personal narratives as oral histories to reconnect people and cultures, to revive and protect the street culture and to leave an intangible cultural heritage to the next generation. For the service design idea I focused on the places where people have memories of and which remind us the street culture. These places are basically the places where we all go to, pass through or simply stand or sit, like patisseries, flower shops, passages, parks, stations, etc. Although people have different ideas, different backgrounds, different beliefs, these places are intersection points where memories are collected together by themselves. This very perception is the most important motivation for me to create storyberry. During the thesis study besides the desk and field research I also ran a prototype. In this participatory prototype I collected the memories of residents and shop owners, with whom I also interviewed, to analyze people’s reaction to a service like this and how to develop the service more in terms of usability, feasibility and attractiveness. The total experience and enthusiasm of the thesis’s journey encouraged me to enhance it as an entrepreneurial project. And I hold this thesis as the first step of foundation of storyberry.
Questi luoghi sono fondamentalmente quelli dove tutti andiamo, passiamo o semplicemente ci fermiamo, in piedi o seduti, come pasticcerie, fioristi, passaggi, parchi, stazioni, ecc.
