Man in the box

The origin of design is very close to the arts, and some higher study of it necessarily brings up questions about its relations. The contemporary problems of design are no more problems of reproducibility, but a matter of uniqueness and character. Following design from its very beginning, our attention must be equally brought to arts. Going through theoretical analysis from the end of the XIX century to the Radical design in the ‘70s of the XX century that announces contemporary trends, screaming out with its radicality that everything is possible , I was trying to find specific connections with this two spheres of creative work. The conclusion of such research is a exibition “Man in the Box” in PAC Museum ( Padiglione D’Arte Contemporanea ) in Milan. The project is conceived as a chronological visualisation of these connections between arts and design. Through this journey, Through this journey, visitors are confronted with boxes that represent homes in different periods and styles. The objects of design and art are put together as participants of scenography that are showing us main caracteristics of a certain period. It’s like a window that gives us peek into the past, with the goal to better understand the present. It shows how people have reacted and how they have been working and creating under the similar circumstances, periods of crisis, but in different parts of the world.

L'origine del design è molto vicino alle arti, e una analasi più profonda porta necessariamente a domande alle sue relazioni. I problemi contemporanei del design sono più problemi di riproducibilità, ma una questione di unicità e carattere. A seguito di disegno fin dal suo inizio, la nostra attenzione deve essere ugualmente portato alle arti. Passando attraverso l'analisi teorica dalla fine del XIX secolo, al design radicale negli anni '70 del XX secolo, che annuncia le tendenze contemporanee, urlando con la sua radicalità che tutto è possibile, stavo cercando di trovare le connessioni specifiche con queste due sfere di lavoro creativo. La conclusione di tale ricerca è un “Man in the Box” mostra nella PAC Museum (Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea) di Milano. Il progetto è concepito come una visualizzazione cronologica di queste connessioni tra arte e design. Attraverso questo percorso, i visitatori si confrontano con dei Box che rappresentano case in epoche e stili diversi. Gli oggetti di design e arte sono messi insieme come partecipanti della scenografia che ci stanno mostrando principali caratteristiche di un certo periodo. E 'come una finestra che ci dà sbirciatina nel passato, con l'obiettivo di comprendere meglio il presente. Essa mostra come le persone hanno reagito e il modo in cui hanno lavorato e creando le circostanze simili, i periodi di crisi, ma in diverse parti del mondo.
