This thesis has as its object graphic design exhibitions in general, and in particular the context in which this subject is dealt with inside of design schools. In summary: a painstaking research, a collection of literature and testimonies of professionals in order to introduce the concept of the figure of the graphic designer as curator and to question, in first instance, on the design phases that allow the construction of a graphic design exhibition. Then, thanks to the analysis of specific case studies, the theme is lowered in a university context, paying attention to student exhibitions curated by industry professionals. This is because the university context is a powerful and influential tool that increases cultural and social production, storage and dissemination. When analysing the various parties and disciplines that compose it, this context becomes an extremely fertile soil, rich in resources, approaches, objectives and methods very different from each other. Through rigorous research, analysis of four specific examples and the contribution of the professionals involved and active in this area, the study tracks a critical and structured path around the relationship between exhibition and its curatorial practice, questioning its value and the curator profession performed by the graphic designer. In the concluding part of the thesis, the foundations and the arguments that collect the main characters and the basic survey are laid. Such work can be viewed by students as a guide and support for the design phase of an exhibition. The graphic designer, having already provided the executive elements, translates the exhibition and curatorial practice as an extension of the profession and of its trial.
