Analysis of chatbot systems focusing on the elderly as users

This is a thesis in which we examine the types of chatbot systems (chatbots) regarding open source and closed source systems. In other words, it gives a review of current chatbots with a focus on the software development environments. The thesis is part of a H2020 project. This project considers helping elderly people that live in homes cope with negative feelings. The proposed method for resolving this is chatting with these people on topics related to the problems they have. This way, they will be able to interact and receive some interesting and helpful information or events, and get engaged in the community.

La tesi esamina diversi sistemi “chatbot”, sia open source che non. Più precisamente, la tesi fornisce una revisione completa degli attuali sistemi di chat automatici con una particolare attenzione agli ambienti di sviluppo software. La tesi è parte di un progetto H2020. Questo progetto considera la possibilità di aiutare le persone anziane che vivono in case di riposo facendo fronte ai loro sentimenti negativi. Il metodo proposto per risolvere questi problemi è la comunicazione via chat con queste persone su temi legati ai loro problemi. In questo modo essi possono interagire e ricevere informazioni o partecipare a eventi interessanti e utili essendo, alla fine, più coinvolti nella comunità.
