Leonardo in the Atlantic Code described Piacenza as a "land of passage" because it crosses four regions, founded on the banks of the Po and enclosed in the hugs of the hills and mountains of the Apennines. Ideal stop for the passage of principals and pilgrims, crusaders and Templars, merchants and artists, Piacenza is immediately a city of art and history, a city of many churches and barracks. In this context, our thesis project was born: highlighting in the urban fabric an area in disuse, once serving the defensive apparatus and monastic presence, forgotten by the community and now alien to the city life. The thesis research is therefore focused on the relief, with an innovative topographic chart of high precision, analysis and the sustainable design proposal of one of these areas: the former Basilica of San Lorenzo. The Basilica presents itself as a space with many meanings: from classical origins to Christian reinterpretation, place of celebrations, political meetings, shows, meetings and commercial exercises. The goal is to return to the city an extremely important space for its development, assuming a destination that can enhance and re-create the whole life of the whole complex. The modularity of the 14th century rhythm reflects the perspective of the eye: sometimes, strings, pillars produce continuous scenic suggestions, within which each activity and every gesture, according to the best urban tradition, translate into representation. In the proposed project, the former church of San Lorenzo is transformed, thanks to the opening made at the beginning of 900 in the capocroce, and assumes the appearance of a city gallery that offers a covered path that can become a place of encounter between art, performance, music and life

Abstract
In the proposed project, the former church of San Lorenzo is transformed, thanks to the opening made at the beginning of 900 in the capocroce, and assumes the appearance of a city gallery that offers a covered path that can become a place of encounter between art, performance, music and lifeFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
