Recent developments in micro-nanoscale additive manufacturing techniques have allowed the fabrication of microlattice structures with a controllable nanoarchitecture. Over the past decade, several studies have been conducted to understand the mechanical properties of these structures in terms of, for example combination of high strength and toughness. This master thesis is past of a research project focused on the design, fabrication, mechanical testing and modeling of three dimensional microlattice structures written out of polymer using two photon lythography direct laser writing, a novel fabrication technique. These structures have been shear tested using a MTS Nanoindenter Xp, equipped with a flat punch stainless steel tip, in order to understand the shear mechanical response. The obtained results demonstrate the potential of microlattice structures to create new mechanical metamaterials with previously unreachable properties.

Abstract
The obtained results demonstrate the potential of microlattice structures to create new mechanical metamaterials with previously unreachable properties.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
