The aim of the present study is to determine how to model real cases of combined sewer overflows. The study, which was conducted for different types of combined sewer overflows (CSO) in various hydraulic conditions, started from a numerical modeling of simplified cases up to a more comprehensive modeling using the software SWMM (Storm Water Management Model). Among the many possible diversion structures considered for comparison, the analysis has been focused on the side and transverse overflow weir, the baffled weir and the leaping weir. The results were compared between them based on the efficiency of the overflow and on the discharge volumes for different events of rainfall considered on an annual basis. The use of SWMM has highlighted, furthermore, pros and cons of the different methods of hydraulic computation used by the software, while using different type of CSO and varying the characteristics of the network where it is placed.

Abstract
The use of SWMM has highlighted, furthermore, pros and cons of the different methods of hydraulic computation used by the software, while using different type of CSO and varying the characteristics of the network where it is placed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
