The objective of this thesis is the design, construction and testing of a device to be inserted in the bridge of a stringed wooden instrument – in particular a violin, but not limited to it – whose aim is to simulate the stresses suffered by the wood during normal playing. Therefore, this device could provide a simple, fast and inexpensive way to recover the sound of an instrument that has not been played for a period of time, or even enhance the instrument’s sound.
