This thesis presents the creation of an aerodynamic model for the sailplane "V5 Rondone", a design by Mr. Vittorio Pajno. COMPA, a 3D panel method software developed at the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano, was the main tool for this analysis. The open source software Xflr5 was employed to refine the results with the missing viscous and unsteady terms. As a secondary result of this project the computational set-up for the the V5 analysis has been generalised to allow the analysis of a wide range of aircrafts. A framework was created that allows the automatic generation and validation of a robust mesh for COMPA from an elastic set of parameters describing a monoplane geometry.

Abstract
This thesis presents the creation of an aerodynamic model for the sailplane "V5 Rondone", a design by Mr. Vittorio Pajno. COMPA, a 3D panel method software developed at the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano, was the main tool for this analysis. The open source software Xflr5 was employed to refine the results with the missing viscous and unsteady terms. As a secondary result of this project the computational set-up for the the V5 analysis has been generalised to allow the analysis of a wide range of aircrafts. A framework was created that allows the automatic generation and validation of a robust mesh for COMPA from an elastic set of parameters describing a monoplane geometry.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
