The green corridor. Renewal of urban blocks in Novi Beograd, Serbia

In cycle of constant changes, our cities become a collage of different periods which leave their mark on the present. Each of these layers of history bring a valuable contribution to the urban environment and as such should be approached with respect and sensibility. Through this work, the socialist architecture of the second half of the XX century in Belgrade, Serbia was studied and explored, together with all theoretical, social and technical aspects. Starting from a study of a larger scale of urban settlement of Novi Beograd, and resulting in a proposal for an urban renewal of 4 of its blocks, the aim of the project was to identify the deficiencies and enhance the positive aspects of the area. The green corridor, a linear infrastructural park infused with diverse public programs aims to revive the neighborhood and reconnect it with the rest of the fast developing settlement and the core of the city of Belgrade.
