Caratteri costruttivi del Monastero della Santissima Annunciata sul Monte Orfano. Restauri recenti e problemi aperti

The Monastery of the Annunciation is located in Rovato (BS) on the orphan mountain, which is the last propaganda of the Brescia Precipice that stands out in the Po Valley. Since its founding in the mid-1900s it is a reference point for the whole surrounding area. After complicated historical events comes back to the hands of its founders, the monks of the Order of the Servants of Mary at the beginning of the 1960s. Only with the reopening begins the process of renewal and resettlement, the conditions are in fact very precarious and the task of the project is entrusted to the architect Ferdinando Forlati. His intervention, which dates back to a time when the very concept of restoration is still quite indefinite, is based primarily on total reconstruction and sometimes on the expansion of existing spaces, paying little attention to the nature of the pre-existence, but by trying as much as possible on mimicry With them. Restoration reconfigured the state of the monastery but also leaves a heavy legacy on it, not just metaphorically but also in the true sense of the word. There are a long series of open problems, linked to the new structures built entirely of reinforced concrete, first of all the roofs, which are presumably over-sized and thus weigh heavily on the pre-existing conglomerate masonry. Today, the global situation is very difficult, especially in view of what could be a fruitful reuse of the complex. Certainly, at a low economic time, the solution should be linked to a parsimonious solving action that secures the most serious situations but does not further undermine the already intricate complexity of the structure. This work is not resolved as to the present situation but wants to be a reflection and a possible starting point for the real rediscovery of the Annunciation monastery. Il monastero dell’Annunciata si trova a Rovato(BS) sul monte orfano, che è l’ultima propaggine delle Prealpi bresciane che si staglia nella pianura padana. Dalla sua fondazione alla metà del ‘400 è punto di riferimento per tutto il territorio circostante. Dopo vicende storiche complicate torna nelle mani dei suoi fondatori, i monaci dell’ordine dei servi di Maria, all’inizio degli anni 60 del ‘900. Solo con la riappropriazione riparte il processo di rinnovamento e risistemazione, le condizioni infatti sono molto precarie e l’incarico del progetto viene affidato all’architetto Ferdinando Forlati. Il suo intervento, che si configura in un periodo in cui il concetto stesso di restauro è ancora abbastanza indefinito, si basa principalmente sulla totale ricostruzione e a volte sull’ampliamento degli spazi esistenti prestando poca attenzione alla natura delle preesistenze ma cercando il più possibile il mimetismo con esse. Il restauro ha riconformato lo stato del monastero ma lascia anche un’eredità pesante su di esso, non solo metaforicamente ma anche nel vero senso della parola. Sono presenti una lunga serie di problemi aperti ,legati alle nuove strutture edificate completamente in cemento armato, primo fra tutti quello delle coperture, che presumibilmente sono sovradimensionate e dunque gravano con il loro enorme peso sulle murature preesistenti in conglomerato. Oggi la situazione globale è difficilissima risoluzione soprattutto in prospettiva di quello che potrebbe essere un reimpiego fruttuoso del complesso. Certamente poi in un momento economico non molto favorevole la soluzione dovrebbe essere legata ad un intervento risolutivo parsimonioso che metta in sicurezza le situazioni più gravi ma che non stravolga ulteriormente la già intricata complessità della struttura. Questo lavoro non si pone come risolutivo rispetto alla situazione attuale, ma vuole essere una riflessione e un possibile punto di partenza per la riscoperta vera del monastero dell’Annunciata. Per poter garantire una prospettiva di crescita e di sviluppo, che passi imprescindibilmente dalla risoluzione di almeno alcuni dei problemi ricevuti in eredità dal passato.
