Interazioni urbane. Siviglia e il Guadalquivir

The project of the graduation thesis originates from the strong hate-love relationship between the city of Seville and the river Guadalquivir. Since its foundation, the Andalusian capital has developed in close relation and interdependence with the river. The frequent floods and the multiple consequent alteration of the riverbed have caused a breach and a progressive split of this two great systems, resulting in a net separation of the urban section from the river section. The project's goal is to reestablish such relationship by reactivating part of this macro-system. First on a territorial scale, by redeveloping two great surfaces historically coincident with the riverbed (the La Tercia Island and the Recinto Ferial). Ultimately on a urban scale, by projecting footbridges that will sometime function on the modification of the limit City-river and some other times by redefining and redesigning the stream crossings.

Il progetto di tesi nasce dallo studio del forte rapporto di amore e odio fra la città di Siviglia e il fiume Guadalquivir. Sin dalla sua fondazione, la capitale andalusa si è sviluppata in sua stretta relazione e dipendenza. Le frequenti esondazioni e le conseguenti e molteplici alterazioni del letto fluviale, hanno però portato ad una rottura e ad un progressivo allontanamento di questi due grandi sistemi, generando una netta separazione fra la “quota urbana” e la “quota fluviale”. Il progetto si propone di ristabilire tale relazione riattivando una parte di questo macrosistema prima a scala territoriale, riqualificando due grandi superfici anticamente coincidenti con il letto fluviale (Isla de la Tercia e il Recinto Ferial), e poi a scala urbana, mediante la progettazione di passerelle pedonali che lavorano a volte sulla modificazione del limite città-fiume, a volte andando a ridefinirne e ridisegnarne gli attraversamenti.
