From transit to stay. Enhancing Tarvisio

From Transit to Stay. This thesis has as its main goal the formulation of a project proposal for the area named “La Marmora”, situated in the municipality of Tarvisio Superiore, where from December 2016 the military domain is not in force. According to the municipal guidelines the site, spread over ten hectares of soil and currently in abandonment, has now new intended purposes of residential and commercial use. In the interest of developing a project functional to the Tarvisian area and at the same time guaranteeing the cultural and historical heritage of this municipality, the thesis is structured in the sections – namely Tarvisio, Urban Analysis, The Project – the first of which takes care of presenting a detailed historical research from the origins of the first rural settlement in 1300, to the development of the current architectural morphology, affected by the close Austrian and Slovenian influences. The study of these archetypes and the current touristic and economic directions served as a base for the guidelines that determine the project “from Transit to Stay”, a new pole for the town of Tarvisio, with residential, commercial, sports and cultural functions. This aims at guaranteeing certain services and a more comfortable lifestyle to the already resident people, but most of all it aims at offering to the weekend tourists and the frequent bystanders a wider choice of overnight accommodation and fruition of the local area. The project proposal combines two types of housing, the Residences and the Villas. This guarantees the users to enjoy both aggregations spaces and private areas, varying the degree of privacy, assisted by the distribution of green. The services will be allocated on a central platform, that combines the spaces among each other, constituting a spine that crosswise permeates the area and provides it with hotels, commercial and sports areas ,a rehabilitation centre and a cultural centre with a media library. The annexing of these elements to an area which is strategically located nearby the skiing facilities gives it a new attractive pole for anyone passing by the Tarvisian area and wants to stop by and enjoy the marvellous natural landscape, now multifunctional and equipped with every service.

From Transit to Stay. Questa tesi ha come finalità l’elaborazione di una proposta progettuale per area “La Marmora”, situata nel Comune di Tarvisio Superiore, ove da dicembre 2016 non vige più il demanio militare. Il sito, distribuito su dieci ettari di terreno, oggi in stato di abbandono, secondo le linee guida comunali ha ora nuove destinazioni d’uso: residenziale e commerciale. Ai fini di sviluppare un progetto funzionale al tarvisiano ed al contempo garante del patrimonio culturale e storico di questo Comune, la tesi è stata strutturata in tre sezioni - Tarvisio, Urban Analysis, The Project - la prima delle quali si cura di presentare un’approfondita ricerca storica dall’origine del primo insediamento rurale nel 1300, allo sviluppo della morfologia architettonica odierna, contaminata dalle vicine influenze austiache e slovene. Da questo studio degli archetipi e dalle direzioni turistico-economiche odierne, sono derivate le linee guida che determinano il progetto “from Transit to Stay”, un nuovo polo residenziale, commerciale, sportivo e culturale per il Comune di Tarvisio, votato a garantire servizi ed uno stile di vita più comfortevole ai cittadini già residenti, ma soprattutto ad offrire ai turisti del weekend od ai frequentatori assidui svariate soluzioni di pernottamento e fruizione dei benefits presenti nell’area. La proposta progettuale unisce due tipologie abitative, le Residences e le Villas, garantendo così agli utenti sia luoghi d’aggregazione che aree intime, variando i gradi di privacy, coadiuvati anche dalla distribuzione del verde. I servizi sono invece distribuiti su una piattaforma centrale, che li lega tra di loro, costituendo una spina che permea trasversalmente l’area e la fornisce di hotel, area commerciale, area sportiva, centro di riabilitazione ed un centro culturale con mediateca. L’annessione di questi elementi ad un’area già strategicamente collocata nei pressi degli impianti sciistici, la rende indubbiamente un nuovo polo attrattivo per chiunque sia di passaggio nel tarvisiano e voglia sostarvi e fruire del meraviglioso paesaggio naturale, ora polifunzionale e dotato di ogni servizio.
