Abstract
Hyperconnected technologies and personal mobile devices are rapidly and deeply affecting the experience people have in urban spaces. The integration between digital and physical dimensions is clearly readable in everyday life. A hybrid space is now taking shape. It arises from the matching between Internet and the city, allowed by mobile technologies. This kind of space can go beyond physical and geographical boundaries. Its time-space system changes according to social interactions and cultural issues. On one hand, mobile technologies can mediate the direct experience people have in a certain place to reach a deeper knowledge and cognition of a physical space. On the other hand, they allow users sharing their spatial experiences at distance, connecting people despite the space “in between”. The research focuses on public spaces which are indeed the places in our cities where social and cultural complexity are present and the places where digital-virtual interaction is developing in a more articulated way. The master thesis research explores the future scenarios of the experiences we can have within public spaces: how does people perception of space change according to new technological interfaces usage? How do mobile technologies influence the way people share the space around them? The master thesis keeps a multidisciplinary approach involving neurosciences, social sciences, computer sciences and architecture. The hybrid space is both the result and the evolution of a pervasive socio-technical phenomenon that by nature crosses different fields of expertise. Through a qualitative analysis of twenty scholars interviews’ contents it’s been possible to explore different models and tools which can be useful investigating tangible experiments of hybrid space. The final goal of the research project is to set first steps for a deeper understanding about how architects should deal with actual public space changes, re-designing their point of view in order to design starting by people hybrid experience.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
