The goal of this thesis is to deposit TiO2 and ZnO through plasma electrolytic oxidation and to study degradation of carbamazepine using a photoelectrochemical process, a TiO2 mesh combined with UV light and an applied voltage. TiO2 films have been produced with PEO in an acid electrolyte at two processing temperatures and at different applied voltages. Also ZnO film have been produced with PEO, but the electrolyte was alkaline and also temperatures and voltages were different. Both films have been studied and characterized in order to obtain the best photoactivity. TiO2 has been studied with XRD, AFM, SEM and photocurrent measurements; It has also been applied for sensor applications and water splitting. Instead ZnO has been studied only with photocurrent measurements, then other processes have been applied to understand its behavior. Carbamazepine has been used to contaminate two types of water (a real matrix and an ideal one) and study its degradation rate. These experiments have been performed with two different reactors (1 and 2L), and in different configurations (with or without UV light) to understand and optimize degradation rates.

Carbamazepine has been used to contaminate two types of water (a real matrix and an ideal one) and study its degradation rate. These experiments have been performed with two different reactors (1 and 2L), and in different configurations (with or without UV light) to understand and optimize degradation rates.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
