The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the transportation industry and its development with the ITS technologies, and how an IT company can manage the introduction of a new product into the transportation field. In this case the product offered is a multimodal platform able to integrate both people and freight transportation, enhancing multimodality. To sustain such product a company must: perform a market analysis to understand which are the countries possibly interested in it, use the Porter’s five analysis to obtain the competition level in such countries, and use the Business Model Canvas to support such business. All these analyses were discussed, giving a general overview about the potentiality of the product, and how to manage it in different markets.
Lo scopo di questa tesi è di analizzare l’industria dei trasporti e il suo sviluppo attraverso le tecnologie ITS, e di valutare come una generica azienda IT può gestire l’introduzione di un nuovo prodotto in questo settore. In questo caso, il prodotto offerto è una piattaforma multimodale in grado di integrare il trasporto di persone e merci, supportando la multimodalità. Per il sostegno di tale prodotto, un’azienda deve: eseguire un’analisi di mercato per capire quali paesi risultano essere i più interessati, usare le cinque forze di Porter per ottenere il livello di competitività dei paesi selezionati e sviluppare un appropriato Business Model Canvas necessario per supportare il business. Tutte queste analisi sono state discusse, offrendo una panoramica generale sulle potenzialità del prodotto, e su come gestirle nei diversi mercati.
