Confini. Natura e ritualità

Being mixed blood. Feeling within yourself two voices in unison, two different instincts, two different natures. Being multiple in a single body, living simultaneously two cultures has led me to investigate the nature of the "other". What relationship is there between two distinct entities? What joins them? What separates them instead? I found the answer in the borderline. A line, sometimes visible sometimes not, but certainly always present; It is set up between two or more elements and is always moving, it is always in transformation. It is this changing character of the margin that fascinated me and that I wanted to deepen. The research is divided into two parts, the first analyzes, through the aerial photography tool, the multiplicity of boundaries existing in the natural world. The second part, on the other hand, investigates "ritual boundaries"; Every culture has always characterized the various events of life through rituals, beginning with birth, passing through adolescence, then maturity and culminating in death. There is a parallelisms between the two phases of the research, Francesco Remotti's words in introducing Van Gennep's "The Rites of Passage" well summarize this concept: "Passage rites are therefore not entirely separated from the natural world. In addition to the fact that these rituals often concern the biological events of individuals, they find in the universe a series of ideas and indications. " A study that touches different topics as ethnology and sociology, and which uses the discipline and sensitivity of interior design to communicate how much, beyond the appearances and external differences, every human being has in common.

Essere di sangue misto. Sentire dentro di sé due voci all’unisono, due istinti diversi, due nature differenti. L’essere molteplice in un corpo solo, il vivere contemporaneamente due culture, mi ha portato ad indagare la natura del “diverso”. Quale relazione si instaura tra due entità distinte? Cosa le unisce? Cosa invece le separa? Ho trovato la risposta nella linea di confine. Una linea, a volte visibile a volte non, ma certamente sempre presente; essa si instaura tra due o più elementi ed è sempre in movimento, sempre in trasformazione. È questo carattere cangiante del margine che mi ha affascinato e che ho voluto approfondire. La ricerca è divisa in due parti, la prima analizza, attraverso lo strumento della fotografia aerea, la molteplicità dei confini esistenti nel mondo naturale. La seconda parte, invece, indaga quelli che sono in “confini rituali”; ogni cultura, da sempre, scandisce mediante i riti gli svariati avvenimenti della vita, iniziando dalla nascita, passando per l’adolescenza, poi per la maturità e culminando con la morte. Tra le due fasi di ricerca esiste un parallelismo, le parole di Francesco Remotti nell’introduzione a “I riti di passaggio” di Van Gennep ben sintetizzano questo concetto: “I riti di passaggio non sono dunque del tutto separati dal mondo naturale. Oltre al fatto che molto spesso questi riti concernono le vicende biologiche degli individui, essi trovano nell’universo una serie di spunti e di indicazioni”. Uno studio che sconfina nell’etnologia e nella sociologia, e che utilizza la disciplina e la sensibilità del design degli interni per comunicare quanto in realtà, aldilà delle apparenze e diversità esteriori, ogni essere umano abbia in comune.
