1095 - Lifetime wardrobe. A subscription-only clothes renting service

In this thesis I started explaining the fast fashion phenomenon and how is affecting our ecosystem, making fashion one of the worst environmental friendly industry. The service designed took inspiration from the newest services that are revolutionizing the respective industries like Spotify, Netflix, and Airbnb. The goal was to design a service to solve the fashion industry wasting problem, without affecting the user’s behavior of dressing different clothes potentially every day. This is how 1095 is born, a service that allows users to continuously rent clothes designed ad-hoc to be resistant and shared. The focus will be on the functionalities that allow the digital platform to make the rent and refound easy and effortless, and on the technologies that allow clothes to be shared properly without many damages. In the conclusion there will be thoughts on future scenarios where we could not buy things and rent them through a subscription plan, using just what we need when we need it.

Questa tesi parte dal fast fashion e di come questo fenomeno stia causando notevoli danni all'ecosistema, portando l’industria del fashion ad essere tra le più nocive verso il pianeta. Il servizio da me progettato prende ispirazione dai più recenti servizi che stanno rivoluzionando le rispettive industrie di appartenenza. L'obiettivo era progettare un servizio che risolvesse il problema del consumo dell'industria tessile, senza però ridurre la possibilità al consumatore di cambiare frequentemente. Nasce così 1095 un servizio che permette di noleggiare continuamente vestiti progettati appositamente per durare a lungo. Il focus sarà sulle funzionalità che permettono alla piattaforma digitale di favorire il noleggio e la restituzione più volte in una settimana, e sulle tecnologie e gli accorgimenti utilizzati nella progettazione dei vestiti per permettere a questi di durare più a lungo. Nelle conclusioni ci sarà uno spunto verso uno scenario futuro dove non saremo più costretti a possedere cose, potendo prendere tutto quello che ci serve solo per il tempo strettamente necessario.
