The composite materials market is living in these years a consistent development, in particular carbon composites demand sees an average annual growth of 11%. Though the low treated quantities, their market could be comparable to the glass composite one in brief time, thanks to the high added value of carbon fibers. The increasing use, and the high scrap percentage relative to the use of composites imply the necessity of a proper waste management. This condition is favoring the study and commercialization of recycling processes able to give competitive recycled composite products on the market. This thesis is aimed to explain the potentials offered by these innovative materials, highlighting the various recycling technologies actually present on the market, or in a lab phase. To explain which are the best methods employed to recycle glass and carbon fibers on base of their economic value. The experimental analysis will be aimed to evaluate the quality of recycled carbon fibers supplied by the Italian industry FCarbon. This factory boasts a new green depuration process which should be able to clean the fibers without any degeneration. The analysis will be conducted through SEM, identifying the accuracy of the cleaning process on the fiber surfaces and their constitution. Subsequently the analyzes will be aimed to analyze the mechanical properties of recycled carbon panel supplied by FCarbon, in order to explain the possible market potentials of these recycled products. Furthermore, the forensic analysis conducted on the panels will be aimed to suggest the development way to follow in order to increase their performances, identifying the presence of defects and their possible causes.

Abstract
Furthermore, the forensic analysis conducted on the panels will be aimed to suggest the development way to follow in order to increase their performances, identifying the presence of defects and their possible causes.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
