We are living at a time when democracy, as it is perceived and exercised, faces constant challenges. The debate on democracy is not reserved exclusively for governments and political representatives, but some phenomena have led to the opening up of a space of interest for different professionals and for the citizens themselves. Think of the implications of events such as Brexit and the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States, together with phenomena such as the increase in the percentage of non-voters worldwide. Designers are also called upon to make their own contribution. The purpose of this study is to investigate the added value that design can bring to democratic processes, understanding the concept of democracy not only in the political arena, but as a symbol of the principles of participation, inclusion and equity. Through the framing of different approaches, actors, design practices, projects and organizations that are building an ecosystem for design applied to democracy, this project hopes to create a useful tool for design experts and the academic community related to design, to promote awareness of the theme, through design-driven initiatives that can contribute to the ongoing reflections on the topic of design and democracy.

Abstract
Through the framing of different approaches, actors, design practices, projects and organizations that are building an ecosystem for design applied to democracy, this project hopes to create a useful tool for design experts and the academic community related to design, to promote awareness of the theme, through design-driven initiatives that can contribute to the ongoing reflections on the topic of design and democracy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
