Il sistema terrazzato : problematiche e salvaguardia. Il caso studio dei vitigni della Valtellina

The thesis is a topic that in recent years has become increasingly current and a source of interest from various associations and projects, born with the aim of dealing with them in a variety of ways: terracing. The thesis will deal with various issues related to the terraced landscape; from the existing initiatives and projects for its protection, to the problems of classification and quantification, to its negative and positive impact on the morphology of the territory in terms of hydrogeological stability, its perceptive and social value. The aim of the thesis is to offer an overview of what has been done up to now with regard to safeguarding the terraced system, offering further ideas for applications on the wine terraces of Valtellina, with a project intervention in the Grumello area (Municipality of Montagna in Valtellina). Terracing will therefore be analyzed trying to take into consideration its nature as "scientific problem" which makes it a "trans-disciplinary, trans-scalar and diachronic" phenomenon (Jean Despois, 1959), as well as a social fact, because linked to the population of the place and its economy.

La tesi tratta di un argomento che negli ultimi anni è diventato sempre più attuale e fonte di interesse da parte di diverse associazioni e progetti, nati con l'obiettivo di occuparsene in svariati modi: il terrazzamento. Nella tesi verranno affrontate varie tematiche legate al paesaggio terrazzato; dalle iniziative e progetti esistenti per la sua salvaguardia, alle problematiche di classificazione e quantificazione, alle sue incidenze negative e positive sulla morfologia del territorio in termini di stabilità idrogeologica, alla sua valenza percettiva e sociale. L'obiettivo della tesi è quello di offrire una panoramica su quello che si è fatto fino ad oggi di concreto in merito alla salvaguardia del sistema terrazzato, offrendo poi ulteriori spunti di interventi applicativi sulle terrazze viticole della Valtellina, con un intervento progettuale in zona Grumello (Comune di Montagna in Valtellina). Il terrazzamento verrà dunque analizzato cercando di tenere in considerazione la sua natura di <<problema scientifico>> che lo rende un fenomeno <<trans-disciplinare, trans- scalare e diacronico>> (Jean Despois, 1959), nonchè un fatto sociale, perchè legato alla popolazione del luogo e alla sua economia.
