The equity crowdfunding is recently emerging as an alternative source of financing addressed primarily to innovative start-ups SMEs. Through it the backer will participate in future profits of the business or project proportionally to the invested capital and, thus, it is widely considered by scholars as the riskiest and most volatile of the crowdfunding environments. In the context of equity crowdfunding, information asymmetries between a start-up’s management team and potential investors play a major role. Ventures need to find a way to signal their quality to potential investors to collect capital from a large number of mostly anonymous investors. With this regard the literature, besides being not so exhaustive due to the novelty of the topic, is fragmented and does not provide a comprehensive understanding on how the different signals can impact on the success of the campaign. This work is aimed to close this gap by analysing the effects exercised on the success of the campaign by the different determinants specifically related to the company, founders and campaign. The results achieved demonstrate how some company’s determinants positively affects the outcome of the campaign.
