In this period, there is an increase of the usage of private healthcare and consequently of the competition. For this reason, San Camillo clinic has decided to understand how to improve its performances. According to this objective there was the request to analyse results of 2016 to understand which elements to improve and on which strengths to focalise the attention. The analysis has started by different questions with the objective to understand the general characteristics of the company and to find possible levers of improvement. Among the objectives there were the intent to know which conventions were more active and for which ones are necessary corrective actions and to have a vision about the saturation of disciplines and doctors. To answer these questions there was a direct analysis and a study of Hopera database through a C++ language. The first step was the extraction of the executed exams and price lists. After that there was the calculation of the Revenues obtained by each actor from which it was possible to understand which are companies that have given a higher contribution and for which ones it is necessary to act. Considering Direct costs, it was possible to measure the I Grade contribution margin of each discipline. After that, there was the calculation of the level of saturation of each specialty starting by working hours of each doctor. There was the measurement of a percentage of saturation considering the number of executed exams and an optimal level. This last value was obtained considering an optimal average time for each exam. This analysis was repeated also for doctors in order to find cases of unsaturation or excesses of saturation. Analysing results, it is possible to underline that different disciplines had negative or very low I Grade contribution margins. Moreover, for some specialties there was a connection between unsatisfying margins or Revenues and unsaturation, caused in particular by too low volumes. In general, the number of specialties that need an increase of the saturation is very high. At the end, there were also excesses of saturation to solve through an increase of dedicated hours or doctors of the specific discipline.
In un periodo di aumento del ricorso alla sanità privata con rispettivo incremento della competitività, la clinica San Camillo ha deciso di indagare per capire come migliorare il suo andamento. Da qui la richiesta di analizzare i risultati ottenuti durante il 2016 per comprendere quali siano gli aspetti da migliorare. Alla base di tale analisi ci sono state diverse domande di ricerca, in primis per comprendere le caratteristiche generali dell’azienda e poi per trovare possibili leve di miglioramento su cui focalizzare l’attenzione. Gli obiettivi di tali interrogativi sono stati quelli di scoprire quali convenzioni fossero più redditizie e per quali fossero necessarie azioni correttive ed ottenere una visione sulla saturazione delle varie specialità e dottori. Per rispondere a tali domande è stata fatta un’analisi sul campo ed uno studio del database del software Hopera utilizzando il linguaggio C++. Il primo passo è stato quello di estrarre le prestazioni richieste e i vari listini e quindi calcolare i Ricavi generati grazie alle singole convenzioni in modo da riuscire a valutare quali siano state quelle più attive e per quali sarebbe il caso di intervenire. Considerando i costi diretti è stato misurato il margine di primo livello delle varie specialità. Successivamente partendo dall’orario settimanale è stata calcolata la percentuale di saturazione di ogni disciplina considerando il numero di esami realmente eseguiti e quelli eseguibili avendo un tempo medio ottimale. Infine tale analisi è stata ripetuta per ogni dottore in modo da scovare casi di insaturazione o eccessiva saturazione. Dai risultati ottenuti si può evidenziare che diverse specialità abbiano riscontrato margini di primo livello negativi o molto bassi. Per talune è stato trovato un collegamento tra i risultati di margine o fatturato insoddisfacenti ed un significativo livello di insaturazione, causato da volumi eccessivamente bassi. In generale, il numero di specialità che richiederebbe un aumento della saturazione è risultato piuttosto elevato. Infine, sono stati riscontrati anche casi di eccessiva saturazione da risolvere con un aumento delle ore o dei dottori dedicati alla singola specialità.
