During the last few years, the dynamics and the borders of competition in several markets have been upset by the entrance of new digital multinational players, which have been able to defeat the incumbents thanks to the exploitation of important megatrends, such as the sharing economy and the product servitization. Disruptive Innovations caused by digital technologies represent for the companies both a real threat and a huge challenge. Firms need to understand which approaches have to be implemented in order to survive in such a dynamic and disruptive environment and how they can take advantage of the opportunities coming from digital innovation. In Italy, the digital innovation sector is going through a post-crisis period of significant growth, but the benchmarking with other countries is highly negative. The candidate has identified the Corporate Entrepreneurship as a relevant approach to be followed in order to foster the development of fast and efficient digital innovation inside the organizations. The goal of this thesis work is to understand which is the state of the art on the application of Corporate Entrepreneurship approaches for digital innovation inside Italian firms, analysing the entrepreneurial activities mostly used and how they are implemented inside the organizations, presenting also some real case studies.
Nel corso degli ultimi anni, le dinamiche e i confini competitivi di diversi mercati sono stati completamente rivoluzionati dalla nascita e il rapido sviluppo di importanti multinazionali digitali, le quali sono state in grado di superare le grandi aziende presenti nel mercato grazie allo sfruttamento di importanti megatrend come quello della sharing economy e della product servitization. Le Disruptive Innovation derivanti da nuove tecnologie digitali rappresentano per le aziende sia una grande minaccia che un’interessante sfida. Le imprese devono capire quali approcci implementare per sopravvivere in un ambiente così dinamico e mutevole, e come poter trarre vantaggio dalle opportunità derivanti dalle innovazioni digitali. In Italia il settore dell’innovazione digitale sta affrontando un periodo di forte crescita post-crisi, però il confronto con gli altri paesi rimane fortemente negativo. Il candidato ha individuato nella Corporate Entrepreneurship un importante approccio con il quale le aziende possono favorire lo sviluppo di innovazione digitale veloce ed efficiente all’interno delle proprie organizzazioni. Lo scopo di questa ricerca è capire quale sia lo stato di avanzamento delle imprese italiane nell’applicazione di approcci di Corporate Entrepreneurship applicati all’innovazione digitale, analizzando le attività di imprenditorialità interna maggiormente utilizzate e il metodo con cui vengono applicate all’interno delle aziende, proponendo anche alcuni casi di studio reali.
