This thesis aims to develop and analyze the energy management problem of an electric city bus equipped with a Range Extender. First, the energy management problem is formulated as an optimal control problem. This optimal control problem is then formalized as a mixed-integer convex programming problem. Secondly, another energy management strategy is obtained through the discussion and the analysis of a rule-based algorithm. Eventually, the two proposed approaches will be used considering simulation scenarios and their results will be analyzed and compared. This comparison will show the optimality of the results obtained through optimization techniques while it will underline the sub-optimality of the results obtained through the rule-based approach.

Abstract
This thesis aims to develop and analyze the energy management problem of an electric city bus equipped with a Range Extender. First, the energy management problem is formulated as an optimal control problem. This optimal control problem is then formalized as a mixed-integer convex programming problem. Secondly, another energy management strategy is obtained through the discussion and the analysis of a rule-based algorithm. Eventually, the two proposed approaches will be used considering simulation scenarios and their results will be analyzed and compared. This comparison will show the optimality of the results obtained through optimization techniques while it will underline the sub-optimality of the results obtained through the rule-based approach.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
