In this document are presented two buildings, where a monitoring activity has made and where air conditioning systems have to guarantee people’s comfort and the conservation of artwork and building itself. The first building is Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, where the attention is focused on hourly and daily variations of temperature and relative humidity in every room, because the effect of fluctuation of these quantities on conservation of artworks is more important than their medium or maximum value. After the monitoring activity, the most critical rooms are individuated and, after accurate inspections and consultations of thermography, we have proposed solutions in order to prevent future damages to the artworks. The second building is Palazzo Magio Grasselli in Cremona, where the air conditioning system doesn’t exist and it have to be realised. Using the data provided by the monitoring, the thermal loads have been calculated without the precautionary simplifications contained in the standards and considering the thermal capacity of walls in winter and the air startification in summer. We managed to reduce the power of the plants and the air flow necessary to balance thermal loads and to respect the constraint to use the old plant’s flues and tubes The thermal load in heating season is satisfied by a temperierung plant, a german tecnology that includes two copper pipes in which hot water flows. Theese pipes are placed along the perimeter of the wall and heat the wall. The wall radiates power inward and increase the radiant average temperature. Furthemore theese pipes are less invasive than radiant panels and faincoils
