A dashboard application for prediction of out-of-the-ordinary financial events. Data collection and recommendations

Understanding the financial market is one of the most important “skills” for investors. A financial market is a place where quality decisions can make big difference, given that billions are traded on a daily basis. It’s a dynamic and unpredictable sector where tools to support investors decisions are indispensable. In this thesis, I designed and implemented a web application which gives to the financial investors some insights in the decision-making process. I rely on methods and tools for automatic extraction and analysis of financial data coming from the Web, previously developed and used by students and researchers. The application presents to the user relevant knowledge extracted from newspapers and journals and identifies events related to the stock market. Using this knowledge the investors will get informed for the presence of any event so they can make a better decision. To further improve the user experience there are interfaces for taking feedback from the user, on the quality and practicality of the tools used in the application, thus providing useful information to someone who wants improve and optimize them.

Conoscere il mercato finanziario è molto importante per gli investitori, visto che Dato che sul mercato finanziario avvengono scambi per miliardi di euro, si tratta di un luogo nel quale le decisioni sono estremamente critiche. In questa tesi, ho progettato e implementato un’applicazione web che offre agli investitori finanziari informazioni di tipo finanziario a supporto del suo processo decisionale. L’appicazione è basata su metodi e strumenti per l’estrazione e l’analisi automatica dei dati finanziari e giornalistici provenienti dal Web. Usando questa conoscenza gli investitori saranno informati della presenza di qualsiasi evento in modo che possano prendere al meglio le loro decisioni. L’applicazione offre anche all’utente la possibilità di pronunciarsi sull’utilità degli strumenti messi a disposizione, in modo che il progettista possa modificarli oppure sostituirli opportunamente.
