Progetto di piazza per la stazione di Villapizzone con centro sportivo universitario del campus Bovisa del Politecnico di Milano

The area of this thesis is located between Villapizzone and Bovisa. Regarding the historical analysis, numerous researches have been carried out from the IGM cartography and choosing precise historical bands from 1865 to the second post-war period. We started from the end of the 800 century because it is the period in which the area had a radical change, moving from an rural reality to a production area. The railway has played a fundamental role in the growth of urban character of the area. The presence of industries has influenced the area making its territory polluted and problematic. With the advance of the twentieth century, the district has undergone a new change dictated by the progressive disposal of factories. The area was at risk of abandonment. The merits and defects of the area have emerged. Surely the two railways station present advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, they favor the passage of numerous suburban lines, on the other they stand as physical barriers between the districts. A second subject of great impact for the area is the Polytechnic: the university has favored the re-use of the entire territory by bringing a new, especially young, audience to it. Finally also the urban green is an aspect that characterizes the area. The number of city parks allows the continuous connection between the large urban parks nearby. As a consequence, during the last few years many projects of redevelopment of the Goccia have been carried out and until today have been denied due to the massive drainage works to be carried out on this territory. Starting from these elements, the project addresses two issues that go beyond the reclamation without denying the future redevelopment of the AEM park. The first part of the project focuses on the railway station of Villapizzone going to draw two squares and giving two new more symbolic and important fronts. Subsequently the project draws attention to the Polytechnic going to occupy an area adjacent to the campus with a new sports center supporting the university and the neighborhood community. The changes made in the fronts of the station will implement the possibility of access of the entire area that will have more attractive power with the presence of the new services for the university and the district.

L’area d’interesse di questo lavoro di tesi si trova tra Villapizzone e Bovisa. Per quanto riguarda l’analisi storica sono state svolte numerose ricerche partendo dallo studio delle cartografie dell’IGM e scegliendo delle precise fasce storiche dal 1865 al secondo dopoguerra. Si è partiti dalle fine dell’800 perché è il periodo in cui la zona ha subito un cambiamento radicale passando da una realtà agricola e contadina a un bacino produttivo. La ferrovia ha giocato un ruolo fondamentale nella crescita e nella formazione degli insediamenti urbani caratteristici dell’area. La forte presenza delle industrie e dei gasometri ha influenzato il destino della Goccia rendendo il suo territorio inquinato e problematico. Con l’avanzare del novecento e delle tecnologie il quartiere ha subito un nuovo cambiamento dettato dalla progressiva dismissione delle fabbriche. L’area risultava a rischio di abbandono, ma non ha perso del tutto il suo valore urbano grazie all’insediarsi del nuovo campus del Politecnico di Milano. Con lo studio dell’esistente sono emersi i pregi e i difetti dell’area. Sicuramente le due ferrovie oggi si presentano apportano vantaggi e svantaggi. Da un lato grazie al loro sviluppo favoriscono il passaggio di numerose linee suburbane, dall’altro si ergono come barriere fisiche tra i quartieri, tra i quali spesso mancano i giusti collegamenti. Un secondo soggetto di grande impatto per l’area è il Politecnico: l’università ha favorito il riuso dell’intero territorio portandone al suo interno una nuova utenza soprattutto giovanile. Infine anche il verde urbano è un aspetto che caratterizza la zona. La quantità di giardini e parchi cittadini sorti lungo la ferrovia e in altri spazi storicamente importanti, permette il collegamento continuo tra i grandi parchi urbani vicini, quali il Parco Nord e parco Monte Stella. Di conseguenza nel corso degli ultimi anni sono stati realizzati molti progetti di riqualificazione della Goccia e fino ad oggi sono stati negati a causa dei massicci lavori di bonifica da compiere su questo territorio. Partendo da questi elementi derivati dalle analisi territoriali, il progetto affronta due temi che esulano la bonifica senza negare la futura riqualificazione del parco dell’AEM, ma lasciandolo attuale. La prima parte del progetto si concentra sulla stazione ferroviaria di Villapizzone andando a disegnare due piazze ai suoi lati di accesso, alla quota delle biglietterie, e regalando due nuovi fronti più simbolici e importanti. Successivamente il progetto rimanda l’attenzione al Politecnico andando a occupare un’area confinante con il campus con un nuovo centro sportivo di supporto all’università e alla comunità di quartiere. Le modifiche apportate nei percorsi e nei fronti della stazione implementeranno la possibilità di acesso e accoglienza dell’intera area che avrà più potere attrattivo con la presenza dei nuovi servizi previsti dal progetto per l’università e il quartiere.
