Mobility flows are the key dynamics of urbanization, with the associated infrastructure constituting the backbone of urban form. Urban sprawl, rising trade flows and incomes, expanding globalization have supported motorization in metropolitan cities in developing countries. Bangalore is one of the fastest growing cities in India with a population of 11.5 million people. It is branded as ‘Silicon Valley of India’ for heralding and spearheading the growth of Information Technology (IT) based industries in the country. With the advent and growth of IT industry, as well as numerous industries in other sectors and the onset of economic liberalisation since the early 1990s, Bangalore has taken lead in service-based industries fuelling substantial growth of the city both economically and spatially. It has become a cosmopolitan city attracting people and business alike, within and across nations. The population has been growing at a rate of 3.25% per year in the last decade. There has been a phenomenal growth in the population of vehicles, especially the two and four wheelers in this period due to rising household incomes. In the absence of adequate public transport system, people are using the personalized modes which is not only leading to congestion on limited road network but also increasing environmental pollution. Majestic Bus Station, is a large bus station in central Bangalore. This bus station provides connectivity to almost all the areas of Bangalore. One side of the bus station is used for intra-city buses while the other side is used by out-station buses. Majestic Metro station is also located along with these bus stations. Bangalore City Railway Station is located opposite to the majestic bus station. This is the main railway station serving the city of Bangalore. The area is generally very crowded with commuters taking different means of transports in this area. An average of 4 million people commute every day. Thus, there is a great amount of congestion in the current situation. In this regard the project deals with redeveloping the majestic area at the first step. The entry and exit points of the buses are reorganized to have separate entry and exit points unlike nowadays. The semi circular bus terminal (for intra city buses) is retained not to lose the historical background. The platforms for the buses are reorganized in accordance with the new entry and exit points of the station. A new circular building (keeping the same language of historical semi-circular terminal) to house the administrative facilities has been planned. With an intention of getting back the ‘Garden City’ concept to Bangalore city core, three huge gardens are proposed at the junctions railway, bus and metro stations. Mobility is not only a matter of developing transport infrastructure and services, but also of overcoming the social, economic, political and physical constraints to movement. Integrated development along public transport corridors generates economic growth and increased income. There is high pedestrian traffic in core area and some other areas in Bangalore. Footpath facilities are generally not adequate and their condition is deteriorating. Therefore up gradation of their facilities is very important. Hence a viable pedestrian bridge including different commercial activities is planned connecting the majestic railway station, bus stations and the metro station. It includes three main towers hosting commercial spaces ,restaurants, viewing platforms to looking towards the gardens and city. It focuses on bringing people, activities and places together to a common ground, thus creating a strong linkage between land use planning and transport planning.

Lo sprawl urbano, l'aumento dei flussi commerciali e dei redditi, l'espansione della globalizzazione hanno sostenuto la motorizzazione nelle città metropolitane nei paesi in via di sviluppo. Bangalore è una delle città in più rapida crescita in India con una popolazione di 11,5 milioni di persone. È etichettato come "Silicon Valley of India" per annunciare e guidare la crescita delle industrie basate sulla tecnologia dell'informazione (IT) nel paese. In assenza di un adeguato sistema di trasporto pubblico, le persone utilizzano le modalità personalizzate che non solo portano alla congestione della rete stradale limitata, ma aumentano anche l'inquinamento ambientale. Majestic Bus Station, è una grande stazione degli autobus nel centro di Bangalore. Questa stazione degli autobus fornisce connettività a quasi tutte le aree di Bangalore. Un lato della stazione degli autobus viene utilizzato per gli autobus all'interno della città, mentre l'altro lato viene utilizzato dagli autobus fuori stazione. Anche la stazione della metropolitana Majestic si trova insieme a queste stazioni degli autobus. La stazione ferroviaria di Bangalore City si trova di fronte alla maestosa stazione degli autobus. Questa è la principale stazione ferroviaria che serve la città di Bangalore. L'area è generalmente molto affollata di pendolari che impiegano diversi mezzi di trasporto in quest'area. Ogni giorno arrivano in media 4 milioni di persone. Quindi, c'è una grande quantità di congestione nella situazione attuale. A questo proposito il progetto riguarda la riqualificazione dell'area maestosa al primo passaggio. I punti di entrata e di uscita degli autobus sono riorganizzati per avere punti di entrata e uscita separati a differenza di oggi. Il terminal degli autobus semicircolare (per autobus urbani intra) viene mantenuto per non perdere lo storico background. Le piattaforme per gli autobus vengono riorganizzate in base ai nuovi punti di ingresso e uscita della stazione. È stato pianificato un nuovo edificio circolare (mantenendo la stessa lingua del terminal semicircolare storico) per ospitare le strutture amministrative. Con l'intenzione di riportare il concetto di 'Garden City' al centro della città di Bangalore, tre enormi giardini sono proposti nelle stazioni ferroviarie, autobus e metropolitana. La mobilità non è solo una questione di sviluppo di infrastrutture e servizi di trasporto, ma anche di superare i vincoli sociali, economici, politici e fisici al movimento. Lo sviluppo integrato lungo i corridoi di trasporto pubblico genera crescita economica e aumento del reddito. Vi è un elevato traffico pedonale nella zona centrale e in altre aree di Bangalore. Le infrastrutture per i sentieri generalmente non sono adeguate e le loro condizioni si stanno deteriorando. Pertanto la gradazione delle loro strutture è molto importante. Quindi è previsto un ponte pedonale percorribile che includa diverse attività commerciali che collegano la maestosa stazione ferroviaria, le stazioni degli autobus e la stazione della metropolitana. Comprende tre torri principali che ospitano spazi commerciali, ristoranti, piattaforme di osservazione a guardare verso i giardini e la città. Si concentra sul portare persone, attività e luoghi in un terreno comune, creando così un forte legame tra la pianificazione dell'uso del territorio e la pianificazione dei trasporti.
