The thesis, developed in collaboration with the Corti Foundation, has two main objectives. The first is the study of the sensitive loads related to the cooling of the operating rooms of St. Mary's Lacor Hospital (Uganda). The second is the analysis of two solutions based on the exploitation of solar energy to reduce the cost associated with the operation of the existing chiller. A four-month period on the field has been used to gather the data needed to simulate the existing system in its components and operating conditions, by defining the thermal loads and the associated electrical consumption. Subsequently, two different solutions (solar driven absorption cooling and PV cooling) were analysed by arriving at defining its saving costs of energy associated with cooling. A final economic analysis was conducted to suggest to the Foundation a further useful criterion to determine whether or not to buy one of the two systems.

Abstract
A final economic analysis was conducted to suggest to the Foundation a further useful criterion to determine whether or not to buy one of the two systems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
