International mobility is the common occurrence in today’s studying process all over the world and changing the global higher education landscape. The dramatic growth in Indonesia also foreshadows greater demand for study abroad. Year by year, the number of students from Indonesia that are doing their tertiary study abroad has significantly increased, as well as the scope of the countries they chose to settle. While studying abroad, Indonesian students often travel to different places and countries; through which they interact with various culture, get new experiences and build a beneficial network. This fact also reflects today’s millennials’ travel trends and lifestyle. The thesis addressed two main problems which seen on these Indonesian student lifestyles. First, they have limited funds that can be used to finance their travel, and secondly, they have a narrow network between fellow Indonesian who resides in the same or different countries. The author aims at discovering the reasons and develops a service to counter the problem and to answer their needs to travel with comfort and safety in mind through the theory and methodology of product service system design. This thesis takes Indonesian students’ living behavior as a starting point to analyze and explore the possibilities to answer to their needs and create opportunities for them. The author has collected data by conducting interviews and surveys with Indonesian students that are currently studying abroad in different countries and cities. With the finalized research, the author has generated a benchmark and general understanding to make a point and design an integrated service system which consists of website and application based “platform.” This platform will serve as a mediator for students with the same interest to interact and help each other with their travel needs. It will also be used to distribute information and gather student’s data to build integrated data profiles that can be used for future references to make a network, as well as collaborating with other institutions and companies. And this opens more opportunities for Indonesian students.
La mobilità internazionale è l'evento comune nel processo di studio attuale, in tutto il mondo e nel cambiamento del panorama dell'istruzione superiore globale. La drammatica crescita in Indonesia prefigura inoltre una maggiore domanda di studio all'estero. Anno dopo anno, il numero di studenti provenienti dall'Indonesia che stanno facendo il proprio studio terziario all'estero è aumentato significativamente, così come le ragioni per quali hanno scelto di stabilirsi in un certo paese. Mentre studiano all'estero, gli studenti indonesiani viaggiano spesso in posti e paesi diversi; dove interagiscono con varie culture, acquisiscono nuove esperienze e costruiscono una rete di conoscenza. Questo fatto riflette anche le tendenze di viaggio e lo stile di vita della generazione attuale. La tesi ha affrontato due problemi principali in merito a questi stili di vita degli studenti indonesiani. In primo luogo, hanno fondi limitati che possono essere utilizzati per finanziare i loro viaggi e, in secondo luogo, hanno una rete ristretta di compagni indonesiani che risedono negli stessi o diversi paesi. L'autore mira a scoprire le ragioni e sviluppa un servizio per contrastare il problema e rispondere alle loro esigenze per viaggiare con conforto e serenità attraverso la teoria e la metodologia del Design del Sistema Prodotto Servizio. Questa tesi si concentra sul modo di vivere degli studenti indonesiani come punto di partenza per analizzare ed esplorare le possibilità di rispondere ai loro bisogni e creargli delle opportunità. L'autore ha raccolto dei dati conducendo interviste e sondaggi con degli studenti indonesiani che attualmente studiano all'estero in diversi paesi e città. Con la ricerca finalizzata, l'autore ha generato un benchmark e una comprensione generale per fare un punto e progettare un sistema di servizi integrato che consiste in un sito Web e una "piattaforma" applicativa. Questa piattaforma fungerà da mediatore per gli studenti con lo stesso interesse ad interagire ed aiutarsi a vicenda con le loro esigenze di viaggio. Verrà anche utilizzato per distribuire le informazioni e raccogliere i dati degli studenti per creare profili di dati integrati che possano essere utilizzati per riferimenti futuri al fine di creare una rete, nonché per collaborare con altre istituzioni e aziende. E questo apre maggiori opportunità per gli studenti indonesiani.
