We are living in a world which is going through an era of transition and severe change. In a world that is confronted with economic, political but also cultural crisis. Living in this world, of inequality and uncertainty, the selection of the thesis topic couldn’t be anything else than an approach of how design could be a useful tool for the improving or solving problems of the contemporary society. This thesis is trying to approach the different forms of social design and mainly concentrates on the Socially Useful Design, namely the design whose main purpose is to help particular social groups. My ambition is to approach the answers to the following questions: “What is the role of the designer in the society?” “How can they bring a social change through their design?” Social design is not a charity, neither a voluntary work, is a philosophy. In my opinion if each of us through their field was working to improve the society, our world would be better.

Viviamo in un mondo di transizione e di cambiamenti. Un mondo che deve affrontare problemi politici,economici e di crisi culturale. Vivendo in questo mondo di disuguaglianza e di incertezza, la scelta di questa tesi di master non poteva riguardare nient’altro che il modo che il disegno potesse essere uno strumento utile per risolvere i problemi e migliorare la vita contemporanea. Questa tesi di master prova di fare un approccio delle diverse forme di disegno sociale e cerca di concentrarsi sul Disegno Socialmente Utile,che il suo scopo principale è l’aiuto di particolari gruppi sociali. Avrei l’ ambizione di rispondere alle seguenti questioni: “Qual’è il ruolo del disegnatore nella società? ” “Come i disegnatori possono influenzare I cambiamenti sociali?” Il disegno sociale non è un lavoro ne di carita ne di volontariato. Si tratta di una filosofia di vita. Secondo alla mia opinione, se ciascuno di noi lavorasse nel suo campo con l’ intenzione di migliorare la società, il nostro mondo potrebbe essere migliore.
