Abstract
Persian patterns and traditional handicrafts (embroidery, embellishment, etc.) gradually are being faded as the time passes and they are in the hands of an aging population. The decline of traditional skills is a worldwide problem. Not only the traditional handicrafts neglected in Iran, but also in the industrial production environment it’s hard to bring people’s attention to the value of traditional crafts. This research is around investigation of traditional handicraft technique, knotting, wedding dresses as well as design a novel startup which is quite pristine based on the Iranian and European market in terms of the function of the dress and the cost reduction which is suitable even for the exporting and transferring expenses. The novelty of this thesis is in designing a wedding dress with two impressive functions. As a first, the style of the dress will cover two different occasions of the day such as the wedding celebration itself, as well as, farewell moment that the bride needs to change her outfit. (In Iran and similar countries there is a ritual that the couple must sign the marriage contract which requires a formal dress). As a second, the art-pieces which are handcrafted and attached to the dresses in different approaches (in case of this thesis’s collection with hook and eye-closure) will be removed off the dress and can use as a gift in the ceremony. Consequently, the cost of ceremony significantly is reduced. Moreover, using the traditional materials instead of luxury and expensive ones not only is fashionable and unique but also reduces the final cost of dress for both the manufacturing company and costumer.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
