Il progetto Fluff. L'identità di un materiale invisibile

The subject of this thesis is the study of a new material that comes from the assumption of use and enhance invisible urban waste, or that waste not visible from people and much less know each other. In this type of scenario a solution is found aimed at reducing, even partially, waste in plastic. Recovery action takes place on wastes that are considered as new subjects raw materials for the creation of new materials. This is introduced in this way in the world of bio-plastics, as an alternative to municipalities plastics of petroleum origin. Furthermore, we try to fully understand the material to discover its qualities and limits thus being able to define the held experience user. One investigates the expressive dimension-sensory with a designed instrument to understand the relationships between sensory qualities and emotional of the new material. The tool in question is an updated version of the Atlas of materials chosen as a model organization to inspire and support the designer in the choice of material during the phase design, in support of experiences and to the user's needs. The aim of the thesis is therefore to raise awareness people in looking around and understanding better the meaning of objects that surround them and the materials they are made of, drawing on the sensorial experience of the subject same that even promotes a solution innovative is conceived in the home kitchen, starting from the waste of an industrial dryer.

Il soggetto di questa tesi è lo studio di un nuovo materiale che nasce dal presupposto di utilizzare e valorizzare i rifiuti urbani invisibili, ovvero quei rifiuti non visibili dalle persone e che tanto meno si conoscono. In questo tipo di scenario trova spazio una soluzione volta a ridurre, seppur parzialmente, i rifiuti in plastica. Si svolge un’azione di recupero sui rifiuti che vengono considerati come nuove materie prime per la creazione di nuovi materiali. Ci si introduce in questo modo nel mondo delle bio-plastiche, come alternativa alle comuni plastiche di origine petrolifera. Inoltre, si cerca di comprendere appieno il materiale per scoprirne le sue qualità e i limiti potendo così definire l’esperienza tenuta dall’utente. Si indaga nella dimensione espressivo-sensoriale con uno strumento progettato per comprendere le relazioni tra le qualità sensoriali ed emozionali del nuovo materiale. Lo strumento in questione è una versione aggiornata dell’Atlante dei materiali scelto come modello organizzativo per ispirare e sostenere il designer nella scelta del materiale durante la fase di progettazione, in supporto alle esperienze e alle esigenze dell’utente. Lo scopo della tesi perciò risulta sensibilizzare le persone nel guardarsi attorno e comprendere meglio il significato degli oggetti che li circondano e dei materiali di cui sono fatti, attingendo all’esperienza sensoriale della materia stessa che seppur promuove una soluzione innovativa viene concepita nella cucina di casa, partendo dagli scarti di un’asciugatrice industriale.
