Web process management

In the recent years there is a wide growth in usage of internet and web applications. If we think about web browsing, there are many repeated tasks going on daily with the websites and applications. For this reason, if we create a tool or application for making automation of the user interaction with the websites it will be helpful for the normal user and to the corporate world. With automation we intend the automatic execution of interactions with the websites, as for example the repeated access in an online shop to find the best offer. To reach our goal, we aim at capturing the user interactions during the user navigation, with the websites and stores them into local storage. And converting them into formalised BPMN models. To do so, we opted for implementing a browser extension aimed at capturing, abstracting and visualizing the daily normal user interactions with the web pages and web, these interactions are called as the personal web processes.

Negli ultimi anni si è diffuso esponenzialmente l'uso di Internet e di applicazioni web. Solo pensando alla navigazione in Internet, si possono individuare diverse attività ripetute quotidianamente nelle diverse applicazioni. Per questa ragione, se venisse creato uno strumento o una app, volta all'automazione delle interazioni dell'utente con le applicazioni web, porterebbe un vantaggio all'utente finale e alle aziende. Con il termine automazione si vuole intendere l'esecuzione di singole attività o un insieme di esse con i siti web in maniera quasi completamente automa, come ad esempio le ripetute attività di accesso in un negozio online per trovare le migliori offerte. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, si vogliono catturare le interazioni dell'utente durante la sua navigazione nei siti web, immagazzinare le informazioni in memoria locale e convertirle in modelli BPMN standard. Per fare questo, questa tesi propone l'implementazione di una estensione per browser con l'obiettivo di catturare, estrarre e visualizzare le normali attività quotidiane nelle pagine web e nel web in generale, le quali vengono definite personal web processes.
