The phenomenon of abandoned towns is very relevant in the world. Even in Italy it is more the 20 000 towns were left by the citizens due to the mix of factors. Natural forces, economical problems, bombing, antopogenic and social factors, epidemics- all of this problems can force people to leave their homes. After the analysis of the 100 towns in Italy, I assumed, that the most popular reason is economic factor, such as a construction of the new roads, which make the town cut from the civilization and trades; depopulation of the villages, which was made for workers near dams, factories or mining places; consequences of Word War II, when was the abandonment of the countryside and the Invasion of the industrialized cities by peasants in search of fortunes , etc. Different region have their own problem of abandonment, which also connects with the position of the each town. The main problem in Sicily was natural forces, earthquakes is frequent occurrence there. But sometimes consequences can be unrepairable. The main earthquakes, which followed by the series of terrible damage was Terremoto del Val di Noto in 1693, Terremoto del di Messina in 1908 and Terremoto del Belice in 1968. The last one centered between towns Gibellina, Salaparuta and Poggioreale, killed at least 230 people, between 600 and 1000 was injured and more then 10 000 people ,lost their homes forever. The project is placed in the Old town of Poggioreale. The village wasn’t totally ruined, but most of the houses are in the emergency state or totally collapsed. Most of the sites was completely ruined. For example the main cathedral of Poggioreale, Chiesa Matrice e Grandata, was destroyed gradually: the main tower with the part of interior was stand till 2006 but , unfortunately was collapsed after. But with the help of volunteers, there was a possibility of new life to Poggioreale. People clean a lot of roads from damaged houses, preserved a part of sites which wasn’t completely ruined. But without help of government and the luck of money, they can not preserve everything and stop slow damage of the town. The project opens new possibility to the Poggioreale. the main question is how to increase the amount of investigations to the town? The main strategy in the project is to develop the tourism in the way of the increasing the interest to the town. The Poggioreale is the Ghost town. Unfortunately .we can not rebuilt town again. But the Ghost status is the main interesting thing for the tourists. At the same time not all of tourists know about the past of the town. The main idea in my project Is to create an openair museum: construct the decorations of the damaged buildings, made from the transparent frosted acrylic glass. This ghosted decorations can keep the feeling of the ghost town, at the same time give an information about the past. Of course, I can not forget about facilities, which can make time in the town more comfortable: new rest places, clean roads, sitting places, infopoint, cafes and shops- all of it will occur in new Poggioreale and with the open air museum will give the mew life to this beautiful village.
