Horizons sur Paris

Horizons sur Paris is emerged out of the design requirements of the "Réinventer la Seine" competition. This competition wants to design and develop new ways of inhabiting the boundary between land and water. The areas which has been made available in the announcement that need to be reconverted are planty and are located between Paris and Le Havre. In this section, the Seine appears to be an essential element in the settlements distributed along its rivers. Nevertheless, the relationship between the population and the river remains very limited. The main objective is to re-establish the relationship between the river and the city so that they can be perceived as one unit by its inhabitants. The thesis based on the area of Paris is particularly focused on the historical center, where the relationship between the river and the city seems to be very varied and complex. The different river sections and infrastructures close the view and they do not make the city perceptible from the river and vice versa. Three different projects have been developed in three different areas aiming at reconciling the Seine and Paris through their integration which has been developed on different urban horizons. In this way, the population of Paris will be able to regain possession of the riverbed. And thus, the population may rebuild the places to live to erase the boundary between the river and the city: just like the "flauner" wandering the streets of Paris and making the experience of walking outside of the time.

Horizons sur Paris si sviluppa dalle richieste progettuali del concorso “Réinventer la Seine”, che ha come obiettivo quello di progettare e di sviluppare nuovi modi di abitare il confine fra terra e acqua. Le aree messe a disposizione dal bando per essere riconvertite sono molteplici e interessano la zona compresa fra Parigi e Le Havre. In questo tratto la Senna risulta essere un elemento essenziale negli insediamenti distribuiti lungo le sue sponde, nonostante ciò il rapporto fra la popolazione e il fiume rimane molto limitato. L’obiettivo principale è quello di ristabilire la relazione fra il fiume e città in modo che essi possano essere percepiti come un tutt’uno dai suoi abitanti. La tesi si è concentrata sull’area di Parigi, focalizzandosi in particolare sul centro storico; qui il rapporto fra fiume e città sembra essere molto variegato e complesso alternando sezioni fluviali differenti e infrastrutture che chiudono la visuale e non rendono percepibile la città dal fiume e viceversa. Sono stati sviluppati tre differenti progetti in tre aree diverse, con l’obiettivo di riconciliare la Senna e Parigi attraverso una loro integrazione che si sviluppa su orizzonti urbani differenti. In questo modo la popolazione di Parigi potrà riappropriarsi del lungosenna e ricostituire quindi dei luoghi da abitare per cancellare il limite fra il fiume e la città, come il “flauner” che vaga fra le vie di Parigi e vive l’esperienza di camminare fuori dal tempo.
