The thesis develops an investigation of a Synagogue located in the city of Pomponesco, around 35km south of Mantova. The Synagogue was known to be built around the middle of 18th century and was located in a small jewish quarter that was inhabited by the Cantoni ‘s family, a family know to be bankers and hold properties around the Po region. Among the Cantoni family, there was Alberto Cantoni, a writer and member of the Accademia Virgiliana di Mantova. For the development of the thesis a historical analysis, laser-scan and photogrametric survey were carried out to understand the nature, and the construction of the building. Alongside a model using Building Information Modeling was created to put into evidence the elements of the construction and the phases of the tranformation of the building. The design proposal consists of a Conference, lIbrary and exhibiton space that seeks to restoring the ancient spaces and bringing to them a compatible new use and life. It is also a tribute to Alberto Cantoni, that will have his books and documents exposed in the library.
La tesi sviluppa un’indagine su una sinagoga situata nella città di Pomponesco, a circa 35 km a sud di Mantova. La Sinagoga fu costruita intorno alla metà del XVIII secolo e si trovava in un piccolo quartiere ebraico abitato dalla famiglia Cantoni, una famiglia nota per essere banchieri e avere proprietà intorno alla regione del Po. Tra i Cantoni c’era Alberto Cantoni, scrittore e membro dell’Accademia Virgiliana di Mantova. Per lo sviluppo della tesi sono state condotte analisi storiche, scansioni laser e fotogrammetriche per comprendere la natura e la costruzione dell’edificio. Allo stesso tempo è stato creato un modello che utilizza Building Information Modeling per mettere in evidenza gli elementi della costruzione e le fasi della trasformazione dell’edificio. La proposta progettuale consiste in uno spazio per conferenze, mostre e biblioteca che cerca di restaurare gli spazi antichi e di offrire un nuovo uso e una vita compatibili. Il progetto è anche un omaggio ad Alberto Cantoni, che esporrà i suoi libri e documenti in biblioteca.
