The present thesis work is focused on the study of mechanical and microstructural properties of AlSi10Mg parts produced by Selective Lase Melting (SLM). Ad hoc isothermal thermal treatments are proposed in order to improve the final performances of the SLM built parts. Dedicated isothermal heat treatments are designed on the basis of calorimetric results and their influence on the microstructure and the mechanical response of the alloy was assessed. Ageing and overageing phaenomena are studied and the influence of silicon morphology on mechanical properties is confirmed. Moreover, the influence of production strategies on microstructural transformations is explored and a strong correlation between process parameters, like power, exposure time, building temperature and laser emission mode, and treatment temperatures is assessed. Moreover, the possibility of joining SLM built aluminum parts by laser welding is explored, too. Welding appeared to be negatively affected by porosity issues, which cause a reduction of mechanical properties with respect to the as built alloy.

Abstract
Welding appeared to be negatively affected by porosity issues, which cause a reduction of mechanical properties with respect to the as built alloy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
