Evergreen. Un polo per la vita. Progetto di recupero per l'area dell'ex macello di Monza

The idea of the title of this thesis “Evergreen, a pole for life” borns from a commingling of two different main factors: first of all, we wish to base our project on intergenerationality and, secondly, we intend to keep alive the memory of the state in which ex-slaughterhouse area is currently located, that is completely invaded by a majestic and infesting nature. We would like to develop a project, which recalls the idea of “evergreen” which combines the existing nature’s vitality and strength and the Innovative and Intergenerational Pole concept’s energy and fervour. We have chosen a logo, for a background, that recalls in a stylized way Gustav Klimt’s “Tree of life”: the complete work is composed of three panels, on that central it detaches a gold tree which has a thousand branches, that intersect his going to form alike geometric figures to clouds and waves. Beyond the precise message that the artist would want to transmit through the work’s composition, this tree has a precise symbolic meaning, that repeats him in a lot of cultures since the birth of art for a long time: the tree is knowledge, the tree is life. We get the opportunity, right now, for thank the person responsible of the Negotiated Programming Service of the Municipality of Monza, Arch. Monica Claudia Tagliabue, that provided us the first fundamental information for the development of our thesis project, she was illustrating to us the problems and the potentialities of the ex- slaughterhouse area and the intentions that the town administration of the junta Scanagatti had about it, she making us aware of three scholastic buildings, that are still operation, which are under bad conditions. So that the demands, of which we were aware, wouldn’t influence us, we have tried to be the most objective possible during the preliminary analyses, in such way to appraise all the options.This has allowed us to validate the hypothesis of the municipality to insert an Innovative Scholastic Pole inside the ex-slaughterhouse area, to which, however, added a whole series of other functions that they will allow the building complex to relive completely. Our project doesn’t offer a simple School Pole, but a great Intergenerational Educational Center, that it will welcome, in this new role, people of every age, culture and colour.

L’ idea del titolo di questa tesi “Evergreen, un polo per la vita” nasce dalla commistione di due fattori principali: innanzitutto il desiderio di intergenerazionalità su cui si vuole fondare il nostro progetto e, in secondo luogo, l‘intenzione di mantenere vivo il ricordo dello stato in cui si trova attualmente l’area dell’ex-Macello, completamente invaso da una natura tanto maestosa quanto infestante. Il concetto di “sempreverde” va così ad unire da un lato la vitalità e la forza della natura esistente, dall’altro l’energia e il fervore intrinsechi nel progetto di Polo Innovativo e Intergenerazionale che vogliamo sviluppare. Il logo che abbiamo scelto come sfondo richiama in modo stilizzato l’albero della vita di Gustav Klimt: l’opera completa si compone di 3 pannelli, su quello centrale spicca un albero d’oro dai mille rami, che si intersecano andando a formare figure geometriche somiglianti a nuvole e onde. Al di là del preciso messaggio che l’artista vuole trasmettere attraverso la composizione dell’opera, questo albero ha da sempre una significato simbolico preciso, che si ripete in molte culture fin dalla nascita dell’arte: l’albero è conoscenza, l’albero è vita. Vogliamo cogliere sin d’ora l’occasione per ringraziare la responsabile del servizio Programmazione Negoziata del comune di Monza, Arch. Monica Claudia Tagliabue, che ci ha fornito le prime informazioni fondamentali per lo sviluppo del nostro progetto di tesi, illustrandoci i problemi e le potenzialità dell’area dell’ex-Macello, e le intenzioni che l’amministrazione comunale della giunta Scanagatti aveva in merito, rendendoci edotte delle pessime condizioni in cui versano tre istituti scolastici tutt’ora in funzione. Nel corso delle analisi preliminari abbiamo cercato di essere il più obbiettive possibile, in modo tale da valutare tutte le opzioni, senza farci influenzare dalle esigenze di cui eravamo a conoscenza. Questo ci ha permesso di validare l’ipotesi del comune di inserire un Polo Scolastico Innovativo all’interno dell’area dell’ex-Macello, al quale però vanno a sommarsi tutta una serie di altre funzioni che permetteranno al complesso edilizio di rivivere completamente, offrendo alla città di Monza non un semplice Polo Scolastico, ma un grande Polo Educativo Intergenerazionale, che accoglierà, in questa nuova veste, persone di ogni età, cultura e colore.
