The intervention proposal consists in the realisation of an integrated civic centre in the Isola neighbourhood in Milan, whose history is characterised by peculiar urban vicissitudes concerning the morphological and typological evolution of the city, inside the “Biblioteca degli Alberi” urban park. Relying on the relative guidelines of the 2014 notice of competitions issued by the Milan municipality, the following contribution falls within the research area of a design theme marked by significant complexity and continuous evolution from a social, architectural, and technological standpoint. Thus, a metadesign phase is deemed an essential element to support the project’s development, being necessary in order to define functional, environmental, structural, and technological aspects. Specific guidelines are then formulated to satisfy various requisites, particularly to adhere to the recommendations of Universal Design. The compositional articulation of the intervention is divided up into three main domains which host the library, supplementary functions, and the Nahbereich (entrance area) respectively, the latter being regarded as a new social capacitor for the surrounding area. The architectural design is then integrated with the explanation of the chosen technologies, employing lightweight dry construction envelope systems, and with observations about the structural concrete and steelwork frames. Particularly relevant from a thematic, compositional, and technical point of view is the introduction of translucent surfaces characterising the volumes of the civic centre. The in-depth study is aimed to the investigation of the optical and thermal properties of multi-wall polycarbonate envelope solutions via the use of dynamic simulations, as opposed to other technical solutions routinely used in the construction field.

Abstract
The in-depth study is aimed to the investigation of the optical and thermal properties of multi-wall polycarbonate envelope solutions via the use of dynamic simulations, as opposed to other technical solutions routinely used in the construction field.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
