The renovation of school buildings is one of the main themes in the actual Italian socio-political panorama: many schools today are located in antiquated and so often inadequate buildings, that can’t keep up with the ever-changing needs of the modern didactics. The role of a present school must go beyond the one of simply teaching theoretical or practical notions of some disciplines, and so the building that hosts it must go over its role of classrooms container and become a place of training, socialization, meeting and a point of reference for the local community. It’s exactly in this context that the project in this thesis is inserted, focusing itself on the planning of Trento’s Institute of Arts, a high school designed to guarantee modern and functional spaces to new didactics methodologies, to promote the socialization and communication, the hosting of events and extracurricular activities beyond school’s hours: in this sense the school can take the form of a Civic Centre. All of the choices made in the architectural, technological and structural phase have been conducted valuing the aspects of functionality, sustainability, flexibility, maintainability and executive aspects, without never giving up the possibility to create pleasant and aesthetically qualitative environments. A particular attention has been given to the wood, a typical material of the building tradition of the region and symbol of sustainability thanks to its naturality and its regenerative capability. An important point of the dissertation was the one relative to the comfort. The environments, and the classrooms in particular, have been studied in depth from a lighting and energetic point of view, focusing on the themes of openings, building envelops, shading devices and artificial lighting. The purpose of the study has been the one of maximizing the comfort while minimizing the energetic consumes, fostering in this way the intervention sustainability.

Abstract
The purpose of the study has been the one of maximizing the comfort while minimizing the energetic consumes, fostering in this way the intervention sustainability.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
