Industrial robots, with their evolution toward smart, interconnected and collaborative devices, play a pivotal role in the success of the Industry 4.0 vision. For these safety-, and production- critical devices, security is of paramount importance. Despite this, the potential security issues and venues for attacks stemming from the intrinsic characteristics of these systems, are not entirely clear yet. To help fill this gap, in this thesis, we present a brief overview of the common characteristics of three commercially employed robot-programming languages: COMAU PDL2, KUKA KRL and ABB RAPID, and dwell on the last, systematically analysing its characteristics, and its cybersecurity issues.

Abstract
Industrial robots, with their evolution toward smart, interconnected and collaborative devices, play a pivotal role in the success of the Industry 4.0 vision. For these safety-, and production- critical devices, security is of paramount importance. Despite this, the potential security issues and venues for attacks stemming from the intrinsic characteristics of these systems, are not entirely clear yet. To help fill this gap, in this thesis, we present a brief overview of the common characteristics of three commercially employed robot-programming languages: COMAU PDL2, KUKA KRL and ABB RAPID, and dwell on the last, systematically analysing its characteristics, and its cybersecurity issues.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
