Smart home market evolution : state of the offer and main trends

In recent years the Smart Home theme has assumed a fundamental role in the Internet of Things market, both in the national and international scenario. The new frenetic life rhythm reduces the time available to carry out daily activities. The ability to remotely manage several devices simplifies the management of the house, allowing a rapid diffusion of Smart Home products. Energy savings, comfort and safety are additional drivers that push consumers to make the purchase. The thesis has a dual purpose. On the one hand, mapping the different solutions proposed on the global market, taking into consideration numerous areas of application. Through various analyses on the collected data it was possible to determine the current status of the offer and future trends, in particular with a focus on the situation of the Italian market. On the other hand, developing a critical analysis of the Smart Home market taking into consideration the main countries at European and international level, evaluating the maturity of supply and demand.

Il tema della Smart Home negli ultimi anni ha assunto un ruolo fondamentale nel mercato dell’Internet of Things, sia a livello nazionale che internazionale. I nuovi frenetici ritmi di vita riducono il tempo disponibile per svolgere le attività quotidiane. La possibilità di poter gestire da remoto diversi device semplifica la gestione della propria abitazione, permettendo una rapida diffusione dei prodotti Smart Home. Il risparmio energetico, il comfort e la sicurezza sono ulteriori driver che spingono il consumatore all’acquisto. La tesi ha un duplice obiettivo. Da un lato mappare le diverse soluzioni proposte sul mercato globale, prendendo in considerazione numerosi ambiti di applicazione. Attraverso svariate analisi sui dati collezionati è stato possibile determinare lo stato attuale dell’offerta ed eventuali trend futuri, in particolare con un focus nel dettaglio sulla situazione del mercato italiano. Dall’altro lato elaborare un’analisi critica del mercato Smart Home prendendo in considerazione i principali Paesi a livello europeo ed internazionale, valutandone la maturità di domanda ed offerta.
