Implementazione di un warehouse management system : metodologia ed applicazione ad un caso reale

This work describes my experience in DHL Supply Chain in support of the global project of standardization of the Warehouse Management Systems processes towards RedPrairie JDA software. After a brief presentation of the company and of the WMS I will define the project operating area and its grounds and I will explain the mapping of the operating processes of entry and exit of the goods TO-BE, revealing the system functional requirements. The subsequent GAP analysis will provide the list of changes necessary to create the test environment fit for the operational requirements. The User Acceptance Tests will be structured, planned and carried out within this environment in order to validate the operation while a detailed manual of the site operating instructions will be created (in accordance to to the DILO - Day in The Life Of – approach). An effective staff training, specifically planned to fulfil the project timing requirements, will be based on the operating manual, since the existing documentation was non specific and written in English and therefore not suitable for operational use. The results of the project as well as my personal assessments will follow.

Il presente elaborato descriverà la mia esperienza in DHL Supply Chain a supporto del progetto globale di standardizzazione dei processi e unificazione dei sistemi di gestione di magazzino (Warehouse Management Systems - WMS) verso il software RedPrairie JDA. Dopo una breve presentazione dell’azienda e del WMS andrò a definire il perimetro del progetto e i suoi razionali, illustrerò l’attività di mappatura dei processi operativi di ingresso e uscita merci TO-BE dalla quale emergeranno i requisiti funzionali del sistema. Seguirà quindi l’analisi dei GAP che come output genererà l’elenco delle modifiche necessarie al fine di creare l’ambiente di test aderente alle necessità operative. Su questo ambiente verranno dunque strutturati, pianificati ed eseguiti gli User Acceptance Test per la validazione di funzionamento e parallelamente verrà creata la manualistica di dettaglio delle istruzioni operative del sito (seguendo l’approccio DILO - Day In The Life Of). Questa documentazione sarà la base per una efficace formazione del personale (tutta la documentazione precedente era generica e scritta in inglese non adatta quindi all’utilizzo operativo) anche questa pianificata ad hoc per rispettare le tempistiche di progetto. Per concludere elencherò i risultati del progetto e presenterò le mie riflessioni sulle possibili azioni di miglioramento future sul processo di implementazione.
